My Trip to Las Vegas

I visited Las Vegas with my family in December 2010. It was like dream comes true.

Before my travel, I did a lot of research on internet. Today I will share my experience with you so that you don’t have to spend time in googling around.
Air Tickets and Hotel booking:
Always go for package (Air fare+Hotel).  Also check all the deals properly. Most of the hotels give 30-40% discount if you book for 4 or more nights. Sometime 4 nights are cheaper than 3 nights.
Following was our itinerary:
Airline: Sun Country     Hotel : Mirage   Check in: Dec 24  Check Out: Dec 28
It cost me $704 per couple (Roundtrip airport to hotel in shuttle bus included). Excellent deal!!!! Isn’t it?
Day1 (24-dec) :
We reached Las Vegas at 6.00 PM. Guess what was the first thing we found at airport. Poker machinesmiley. Just imagine right at the boarding point, number of slot machines. Outside the airport, shuttle bus was waiting for us. It took just 10 mins to reach our hotel. On first look we thought it’s a 5 star hotel but after visiting other hotels we realized it’s nothing compare to other hotels. But Mirage is at very good location at the center of strip.
Mirage Hotel Tram to Mandala Bay
We got refreshed and came out of hotel to take first look of world famous Vegas strip.  We walked for an hour and took almost 60-70 snaps. Imagine one snap in every minute. That’s Las Vegas. Full of color.. lights..and sinsmiley. You must be knowing why Vegas is called Sin City. I won't go in detail of that. After this, we reached Bellagio. Experienced soothing view of fountain show (find more details in Day 4) and returned to hotel.
Day 2 (25-Dec)
We walked a lot and covered following hotels. As we were not familiar with transportation –tram-mono rail stations, wasted lot of time.

MGM Grand:  A huge hotel. Did some photography inside and then checked Lion Habitat. It wasn’t that good. Lions were very old and lazy. Took some pics. Don’t spend more than 15 mins. Then visited “Rain Forest” restaurant. Not for food..for photography.
Venetian: It made our day. What an experience. I can’t explain it in word. Escape the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip with a relaxing Gondola ride at the Venetian. From the soothing sound of water lapping the sides of the gondola to the eloquent singing of the gondoliers, passengers will feel as if they have truly been transported to Italy. Streetmosphere at the Grand Canal of venetian brings the spirit of old Venice back to life at the Grand Canal Shoppes with performances held at several locations within the shopping mecca. Numerous "Living Statues" can also be found throughout the Grand Canal Shoppes.
Gondola Ride Real Statue
We also visited Newyork NewYork,Cosmos night club, Eiffel tower at Paris hotel. These are just for photography, nothing special inside these hotels.
Day 3 (26 Dec) Hoover Dam & Grand Canyon:
We booked whole day package for Hoover dam + Grand Canyon. It cost us $80 per head including breakfast and lunch. If you are a vegetarian, let them know in advance and also check with driver before boarding.
The journey started at 7AM. We heard from our friends that it’s a boaring journey and this trip is not worth. But I would suggest don’t listen to anyone. It’s lifetime experience. Journey was pretty cool. It was a video coach. On the way we saw history of Hoover Dam. After 1 hr of journey we reached Hoover Dam. took some excellent pics and started journey for Grand Canyon.
Hoover Dam Grand Canyon
After almost 3 hrs of journey we reached Grand Canyon- South Rim. On the way we saw a movie ‘National Treasure’.  After reaching  Grand Canyon we had our lunch and then board a local bus which took us to different points of South Rim. Don’t forget to take your Map from Driver. Follow your map and plan it out. We had 3 hrs and visited almost all the points. It was an excellent experience. While coming back we saw another movie ‘Ocean’s 11’.
Day 4 & 5 (27-28 Dec):
In these two days, we visited every corner of Vegas. Don’t miss following (In sequence if you start from Excalibur or MGM Grand):
Luxor : Hotel is built in Egyptian theme. Best place for photography.
Luxor NewYork NewYork
Mandela bay:  Shark Reef-Housing more than 1,200 species of marine life including sharks, exotic fresh and saltwater fish, a 300-pound sea turtle and much more, Shark Reef offers the aquatic experience of a lifetime.
Bellagio Conservatory and fountain show:
Fountain show was just fabulous. It's very flattering. People laugh and literally cry when they see it.
Conservatory fountain show
The conservatory is so unique that it is a must-see destination in Las Vegas. Beginning with Chinese New Year in January and changing through spring, summer, fall and finally winter, the conservatory mounts each show with the creativity and lavishness.
Ceaser Palace: Fall of Atlantis
Just when you thought you had seen it all, the Fall of Atlantis fountain show will captivate you with its stunning special effects. Located in the Forum Shops, next to The Cheesecake Factory, the free fountain show uses lifelike animatronic figures to recount the myth of Atlantis.
Fall Of Atlantis Dolphin-Secret Garden
Mirage: Secret Garden and Dolphin Show
The wildest part of Las Vegas isn't necessarily the nightlife. It is an attraction that defines wild in Vegas in a whole new way. Welcome to The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage Las Vegas where tigers, panthers, leopards and dolphins enjoy the Vegas sun and a posh resort like the millions of human tourists who visit the city each year.
Volcano show  outside Mirage.
Hours of operation: The Volcano plays nightly every hour on the hour from dusk to 11 p.m.
The Mirage Volcano is the only complimentary attraction on The Strip that combines fire with music and choreography. The Mirage Volcano combines the two to create an intense display, both beautiful and thrilling at the same time.
Volcano Show Pirate Show
Sirens of Treasure Island – Pirate Show
It’s hard to believe a show that combines a phenomenal set, risky high dives and beautiful temptresses is free. Sizzling dance moves. Dashing sword fights. A pirate held captive. These are just a few of the elements of the show.
Hours of operation: Open daily, 5:30, 7, 8:30 and 10 p.m., weather permitting.
Fremont Street –  Lighting up the Vegas skies
It’s a bit far from the strip. The most obvious and largest part of the Fremont Street Experience is the Viva Vision canopy and light show. The canopy towers 90 feet above the ground and spans the length of five football fields. Featuring more than 12 million LED modules and 555,000-watt sound system, the light show attracts tourists and locals alike.
Hours of operationViva Vision show times are every hour on the hour from 8:30 p.m. – midnight
Fremont Street Poker Table
Casino Experience:
Play all the games at least once. Don’t miss this chance to play in world’s best casinos. Every night I tried my luck and at the end of the trip I was up by $160. Not bad at all. Generally people leave Vegas in negative.
Tips & Suggestion:
  1. Always go for package (Hotel+Air Fare). If you go in off season, you might get even Bellagio at very cheap rate.
  2. Take all day Bus ticket which will cost you $7 per head. Use this bus to visit all the hotel’s on the strip and to visit fremont street.
  3. If you love Indian food, visit Indian Masala at Hotel Riviera. Take bus from strip and get down right before the Riviera. We didn’t like Tamba restaurant though it’s very famous.
  4. If you have budget, plan for sky walk at Grand Canyon and experience limousine once.
