The 57th National film awards

 The 57th National Film Awards, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi

 Amitabh Bachchan has won the National Award for Best Actor for his role in Paa movie. This is Amitabh’s third National Award for Best Actor. He had earlier won for National Award for Best Actor for Agneepath and Black. Ananya Chatterjee has bagged Best Actress for her acting in Bengali film Abohoman. The Nargis Dutt award for best film with a social message went to Delhi-6. The National Awards is considered to be the most prestigious award as it is administered by the Indian Government’s Directorate of Film Festival. Moreover, National Film Awards are considered to be the equivalent of the American Academy Awards.

Just after a few minutes of the awards’ announcement, Amitabh Bachchan’s son, Abhishek Bachchan, who played the role of Amitabh’s father in “Paa,” congratulated him on Twitter saying “My son just won the national award for his performance in PAA!!!!!! I’m a very proud father.”
